Perhaps, at seventeen, Catlin had been too young to marry such an experienced, attractive man as Conal Loring; at any rate, the marriage had broken up in a very short time and she had not seen him for six years. Now, though, she had to see him again, to ask for help that only he could give her. And Conal was having the effrontery to suggest that she might go back to him!
