A Lakeside Season
Miss Maidie Worthing should be wed. The gossips of the ton begrudgingly concede that her wardrobe is smashing, her face is angelic and her fortune makes her a catch. But her papa is a scandal. Poor Maidie has been unmatched for seasons because he has forbidden her to marry a nobleman. As the owner of a London bank, he wants a son-in-law who is willing to change his name to "Worthing"--and ready to work! So now poor Maidie must spend the summer in England's rural Lake District...surrounded by bumpkins, poets, painters and other assorted eccentrics. There's not a frippery or a fop for miles...or anyone worth flirting with except plain Mister Gilmichael, who charms like a prince, kisses like a king...and just happens to be a marquis in disguise. Now Maidie is in a dither, a dilemma, and hopelessly in love. Bufore the summer ends, she must either disobey her father...or her heart!
