Match of the season

by Gordon, Susan

Elinor Maddison, a country miss, attended her first season in London reluctantly. Her misgivings about this were justified soon when she found herself being the subject of ridicule and as a result, losing any chance of finding a suitable match. To rectify the situation, Lord Silverton felt it was his duty to propose and marry Elinor Maddison. This union surprised the ton and angered a few for some reason. Attempts soon were made to stop the couple from finding genuine love and affection for each other.
