Charles Lancaster has inherited Hallinhag House, a centuries-old manor in the Lake District. He soon discovers that something is terribly wrong at Hallinhag, apparently occupied by a young girl. He discovers the diary of his grandfather, Dominic Lancaster, who was injured early in World War II and sent to Hallinhag to recuperate with only his young, deaf sister Octavia and a nurse for company. When Octavia begins hears disturbing voices that tell her to leave, Dominic begins researching the history of the house-- and unknowingly release a dark evil that threatens both their lives.
