First passion

by Dorothy Cork

Her mother's marriage to Walter Marshall had certainly made a difference to her own life, Fay thought ruefully; it was very nice for her mother to be happy again, and so comfortably off - but did she have to leave Fay in the care of the disagreeable Dain Legend? He had no right to treat her as a silly, irresponsible school child, or to assume at the same time that she was an unscrupulous gold-digger! And it didn't help that her unpleasant stepsister Sandra was doing her best to confirm Dain in his low opinion of her. As far as Fay was concerned, the pair of them were welcome to each other!
