Rent a Wife

by Rachel Lindsay

How long could she go on pretending? Miles Denton believed he'd uncovered immoral practices at the dating agency where Natalie was working temporarily, helping to run it for the owner, her friend who'd fallen ill and asked Natalie to step in. Threatening to have it closed down, as he accused Natalie of setting up his sister with a con-man, out to fleece her and his family of all he could, Miles offered one alternative: that Natalie pretend to be his girl friend, to convince certain people that this bachelor doctor was not husband material. And indeed he wasn't, Natalie discovered as the weeks flew by. At least, not for just anybody. His wife would have to be very special, able to understand a man like Miles and give him her support and love. Someone, Natalie knew, exactly like herself!
