She writes of her life from her childhood with spinal tuberculosis at the age of five. She spent the next 5 years strapped to a board ... her body eventually became deformed as she never grew any large than that of a ten-year-old child. As she grows up, Katharine, begins to discover the value of her life, her self, and her independence.
