Their dream is so real they can almost taste it. But for Daniel and Mary Anna Thornton, a comfortable living on the Texas frontier will exact a terrible price. Reservation Indians attack the pioneers who stole their land. Union soldiers enforce punitive policies against the Southerners who so recently fought against them.
