Connie Trent, who lives with the Corey family in USA, is asked by her grandfather, Lord Trent-Gowan, who was estranged from Connie's now deceased father Gordon, to return to England and take up the responsibilities of the heir. Connie is wooed and pursued in England. She also gets mixed up in a kidnapping plot. Her mother had run away with another man when she was young and she tries to find out what happened to her. Peter and Tim Corey try to help her. She has to also decide whether to renounce the US citizenship and become a British citizen.
