Mr. Witt Among The Rebels

by Ramón J. Sender

In the canton of Cartagena, during the year 1873, the engineer Jorge Witt saw how instability settles in his home when jealousy took hold of his wife, Milagritos Rueda. Just as Witt represents the cerebral side of the relationship and Milagritos the passionate, this is a reflection of the social insurrection that surrounds them: on one side the forces of order, and on the other the rebels. It is not possible to separate personal stories from global ones.
