Western Cape, South Africa; Clare Wald, world-renowned author and critic decides to write her life story and enlists Sam Leroux - a hopeful writer - to accomplish the task. But how much is Clare willing to tell Sam? Was she complicit in the crimes lurking in South Africa's past; is she an accomplice or a victim? Are her crimes against her family real or imagined? As Sam and Clare begin to turn over the events of her life, she begins to seek reconciliation, absolution. And within Clare's past lie Sam's own ghosts.
