Beloved Sparrow

by Henrietta Reid

Trudy couldn't help resenting Clive Rankin when he bought her old family home - but at the same time she couldn't resist his invitation to go back there, as governess to his young niece Lucille. Trudy's old friend Richard Verling could not understand why she wanted the job anyway, as it was understood that she would be marrying him sooner or later. Then it began to look as if Trudy would in any case be driven from the Grange yet again - either by the difficult small girl, by the jealousy of Clive's friend Valerie Marchant - or by her own growing, hopeless love for Clive himself.
